Key activities and experience relative to this position include:

  • Leading the coordination of the technical activities (trainings, meetings and reports) as well as providing administrative support under the FISH4ACP Guyana project aimed at improving the working conditions and safe handling of seabob for fishers, processors and vendors;
  • Providing technical support for activities under the FISH4ACP Dominican Republic in the development of a Fisheries Management Plan for their Mahi Mahi fishery;
  • Supporting the activities under the Sargassum Products for Climate Resilience in the Caribbean. This support includes: technical advice, completing missions specific to promoting and networking/collaborating, and development and training;
  • Leading efforts under the IYAFA 2022 (in collaboration with BE CLME+ project), specifically activities related to the Blue Economy: 1. completion of a literature review on the regional Blue Economy landscape; 2. completing a blue economy mapping exercise across CRFM Member States; and 3. Conducting a stakeholder consultation on threats, potential and trade-offs for SSF/SSA in the Blue Economy;
  • Promoting and executing sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures across CRFM Member States and the Wider Caribbean Region by providing technical support for activities under the 11th EDF Project and the CDB initiative;
  • Contributing to efforts on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) Fishing throughout CRFM Member States and the Wider Caribbean Region by providing technical support through internal capacity development and participating in/collaborating on training activities (i.e. Blue Justice Hub, Atlantic Maritime Security and the RSS/CRFM FPIC Course);
  • Supporting gender mainstreaming activities across the CRFM workplan, most recently the initiatives under the STAR-Fish project (i.e. EnGen) and the Gender and Fisheries collaboration with the University of British Columbia and Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions; and
  • Supporting and representing the CRFM (as may be required) in all other activities and initiatives (e.g. technical advice, reporting, meetings, presentations and field missions).

  • Supported the initiatives of the CSWG;
  • Supported all activities under the Sargassum Project;
  • Participated in and presented at meetings including the WECAFC 19 and SAG on behalf of CRFM as the convener of the QCWG, the CRFMs 20th year Webinar Series and Scientific conference, and Executive Committee meetings;
  • Assisted the ED with coordinating efforts related to having an underwater survey completed in the region to improve understanding of ecological and environmental processes (i.e. NANSEN);
  • Promoted fisheries co-management approaches through the COASTFISH Project in collaboration with ICNET; and
  • Conducted a literature review to: 1.) identify regional organizations with blue economy mandates; 2.) identify the threats, potential, trade-offs for SSF/SSA in the Blue economy development at the regional level.

  • Worked directly with regional and international project partners on a three country study (Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname) to conduct workshops, interviews and publish reports under the CLME+ Sub-Project an “Ecosystem Approach to Shrimp and Groundfish Fisheries in the Northern Brazil Shelf”. Specific focus was on identifying NICs for good governance.
  • Facilitated and reported on workshops on national ocean governance in five OECS countries (Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada) under the GEF/UNDP IW-LEARN inter-project collaboration for the Caribbean Regional Oceanscape Project (CROP).
